OBJECTIVE:
Our objective is to promote African Culture and Art in America, Asia and Europe through the eyes of an African artist. We also help the natives by donating a percentage of our proceeds to them.
SHADOW BOXES:
Our sculpture and images are carved from African wood by a native of Africa. The woods come from different regions of Africa and has different textures. For example, in West Africa, the common woods are Iroko and Sese commony known as Ebony and mahogany woods.
SCULPTURE:
As mentioned above, all of our sculptured wood and soap stone come from different parts of Africa and are hand carved by the natives who learned the trade from their parents or relative. Every wood and stone are carved with chisel and knives.
FURNITURE:
We have two categories of furniture. The tables and chairs are carved from Iroko wood while the stools are made from cow skin and wood.
MASSAI WEAPONS:
The spears are made from metal and wood handle. The shield are made from different animal skin of cow. The weapons come from Kenya and they are used by Massai/Wagogo warriors to train their young to be hunters.
MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS:
Our musical instruments come from different regions in Africa. For example, talking drum(Yoruba), Cora(Asate), Xylophone(Senegal), Jimbe(Senegal), Agogo(Yoruba), etc. Although some of these are commonly found in all regions in Africa.
JEWELRY:
The jewelry are made from differnet parts of Africa. Did you know the cowry shells were once used in Africa as bargain chips and also used by the native doctors to predict events.
BANANA TREE BARK:
Tree bark pictures are made from banana tree bark. The images are trimmed in bark and paper and laid on a cloth.
BLK ART PRINTS:
These prints are images of the African experience in America.
